Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
Psalm 33:3

Introduction about the Choir and its Mission

Music is an integral part of worship at the St. Stephens Mar Thoma Church and our Church Choir is an integral part of our Church. It plays a leadership role in the singing ministry of our Church. The choir leads the congregation in singing during the Holy Communion/Worship service each week and on other special services. We have a total membership of 38 choir members.

The Church choir makes special presentations during Parish Conventions, Retreats, Ecumenical Christmas Programs, Family Sundays, Choir dedication Sundays, Parish Day and Christmas Carol Service. In addition to this, we do support all our sister organizations like the Youth League, Sevika Sangam, Edavaka Mission and Sunday School in conducting Praise & Worship sessions, respective meetings as well as teaching the latest Maramon Convention songs to our Congregation.

A characteristic of the St. Stephens Choir is our ability to lead the singing for both English and Malayalam Services. Our renditions range from presenting Eastern Classical Music to Western Hymns. Under the able guidance of our President, Rev. Thomas Paul (an accomplished musician in his own right) our choir strives to create a prayerful and Christ-centric atmosphere to enhance our worship service.

We refer to the Celebration Hymnal for English Hymns and use the Hymnal from DSM&C for notations of Malayalam songs. We encourage budding instrumentalists to participate in the singing along with the choir.

Choir practice is held every Sunday immediately after the worship service
